WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
“Visited this restaurant after a recommendation from the taxi driver! Always a good way of finding something good and where the locals would go. Your food is served on a plate covered with a banana leaf, nice touch. Tiger beers was excellent and not too pricy. Food was good and plentiful. Service was excellent too.”
“I am actually not a big fan of Biriyani but I must say that the chicken Biriyani at Banana Leaf Saigon is just amazing!!!! The rice is fluffy and has so much flavour. The first place I will go to once I am back in Viet Nam is definitely Banana Leaf Saigon.”
“Excellent food. Highly Recommended!”
Banana Leaf Saigon offers authentic South Indian cuisine. Authentic tasting Indian cuisine in the midst of Saigon. Tucked away off the main road, this restaurant serves Veg and non Veg options.
"The ancient tradition of serving food on a freshly cut Banana leaf has its roots in India. Here in Saigon, the widely popular practice of eating from a banana leaf can be traced back to The Banana Leaf @ Saigon. The Banana Leaf @ Sagion serves its food on a banana leaf to patrons. This has become our signature ! At the Banana Leaf @ Saigon, this practice is more than just a tradition - It is a science ! If you're looking for a good place to try Indian food in Saigon, the Banana Leaf @ Saigon is probably the place you're trying to find. The restaurant has an excellent selection of Indian favorties. Fantastic Indian restaurant. You can get all Indian items. Especially South Indian style foods are awesome. Very nice staffs and excellent service. For all menu they will use banana leaf to serve. I am addicted to their Sambar rice. Atleast 20 times I would have come here to eat. When you're in Saigon don't miss this restaurant.
After spending 7 days in Vietnam, trying out international cuisines, vietnamese street food items and managing with Roti, Basmati rice and dhal, finally we found this place BANANA LEAF in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh city. As a south Indian, the moment I saw the rice, sambar, PULI KULAMBU, RASAM, CHICKEN CURRY, and much more south Indian dishes, I was on cloud nine. I had tears of joy tasting them. Love the food items and it's taste. The owner was very much caring and so the staffs. Much visit place for South Indians in Vietnam.
This is one of the best places to try authentic Indian food. The place has all the Indian dishes along with other international food. Must visit place if you are in Saigon and are craving Indian food.
Good food. Very good taste Service person very nice Clean and nite Restaurant Go here to eat Indian food All kinds of delicious food are available here
Food is good. A little spicy and oily. Portions are large. Service and ambience are good. I only disliked the loud music. For a fine dining experience music should always be very soothing and in low volume and preferably instrumental. The loud music turned the nice ambiance into a dhaba kind of atmosphere.
Good restaurant for south Indian food, very good service, we were there in the time of Diwali and gifted us the Diwali sweets
Good Indian Food, Loved the paneer pepper fry and lachha paratha…. Best in the city… Great service by Saju
The food was extraordinary, there were a lot of options, really recommended and appreciate their service
Took group vegetarian dinner here, food was good. Rrasam also was good and served well.
This happens to be the most popular Indian Restaurant of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) which serves both South & North Indian food items. They serve both vegetarian & non-vegetarian food dishes. The food taste is indeed authentic & the owner Mr. Balasubramaniam himself takes keen interest in the minute operational details of this restaurant.
Service was good and food really tasty. They went the extra mile to explain what the food is, how it's made and so on! Ramu, the owner was all the time monitoring whether everyone are being well attended.
From Mumbai india. Very nice place to try south Indian breakfast. Do try the masala dosa and the masala tea. I will come back next week to try south Indian thali (full meal). Staff is very sweet.
Super delicious food, but unfortunately didn't have a lot of options on the menu. A bit on us since we arrived late. Can definitely recommend the food and kind service! :)
Some of the nicest Indian food I've had. I had the vegetarian thali plate(I think south India) but they've got many options. It was 130k and I was very happy with the range of flavours, quality and portion size. Alot of Indian nationals eating there also, which is a good sign it's very authentic. I'm going to head back for the North Indian thali plate later in the week. The only downside is the smallest tables are for four people and as I was eating the restaurant filled up and I felt a bit guilty taking their restaurant space
Great place in downtown... Food for everyone - North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Malay... All dosas are ULTIMATE, though sambar recipe need change. Rasam bowl and Chicken/Plain Roti are awesome and not to be missed
A lovely Indian Lunch in the heart of Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. The service is with a smile. The ambience is excellent. The food is delicious. The place is clean and neat. The restaurant is not at all expensive.
Banana Leaf Saigon is a messiah for Indian people travelling to Saigon for tourism. U get to eat Indian food with utmost hygiene and a truly reasonable rate. The servings are made on a banana leaf and that adds to your love for the place. It’s as good as eating in India.
Authentic Indian food and taste in the streets of Saigon. South Indian Thali is a must try. The food quantity and quality is fabulous. We felt a bit skeptical looking at the street and entrance to place, but food and service surpassed all of it.
This is now my go-to for authentic South Indian cuisine. My Indian friend confessed that this place is legitly da real deal and he'll come here for comfort food. The paranthas are made to order fresh and are insanely soft and flakey (which shows great technique) - and not greasy. The menu is extensive enough to satisfy South Indian, North Indian and even Chinese (a few Manchurian dishes?!) tastes. Curries are mildly spicy, yet flavourful
I will say this is the best South Indian restaurant at moment in HCMC. The restaurant is owned by an Indian Malaysian and that’s what makes this restaurant unique. Food is very good and setup is basic. The restaurant open at 6 AM making it perfect for breakfast too. An Indian breakfast in HCMC is rarity intact no one else do this. My suggestion is for idli, dosa, South Indian veg thali, pepper chicken, roti canai, roti boom and biryani. North Indian food can be overlooked easily
Good Indian restaurant. But we can guess the owner or the food style is also a mix of Malaysia . You can find many specialities in their menu: Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian and Malaysian. We ordered their masala dosa. Crispy and delicious We loved their sauces. Then we ordered their chicken
I had M size of Tom Yang Kung at Banana leaf restaurant. It tastes like a bit spicy version of sea food lau thai, which i like. In side of soup, squid and shrimps are enough to me. However this restaurant is Indian restaurant, North and South. Plus they have sort of Malysian style food. I will visit here again for some variety. It is a good food!
I have been ordering home delivery in D1. The best part is, the portion is large compared many other Indian restaurants. Tasty preparation and not too oily. Food is fresh. Delivery service during normal times is fast. Taste is not far from the real Indian food. Masala used is authentic I want to make an important point here. They dont use thermocol containers for packing food on delivery. As most of us know its very harmful to health when hot content is used into a thermocol container. This restuarant use microvaveable plastic containers which can be reused as well.
I order 1 palak paneer and 2 chapati. Both of them are at least 1.5 portion size compared to other places. Taste is good. Simple plating. But I would prefer if chapati could be a little bit more cooked and thinner, palak paneer could be more greener (less turmeric I guess). Price is reasonable for that big portion and food quality.
Very good lunch we had. We tasted thali here. Parotta is excellent which we never thought of. At one point I didn't felt I am in another country. Mostly indian people are coming here. Spice levels, Quality, Quality is awesome. Smell of down south Tamil Nadu I could able to feel. The girl who is at billing is fluently speaking Tamil with chefs. I got surprised
We went to Banana leaf after checking with my friends from India. I tried a couple of other Indian restaurants and this seems to be the best Indian restaurant available in Ho Chi Minh City. Best I tried: Chicken biriyani, Egg biriyani, South meals, Idli and Poori Chicken fried rice with chicken fry could have been better.
First of all I like to say that we live more than 7 days in hochimin city . we live in Paradise hotel and this restaurant is so much near to our hotel just I think half kilometre no no half kilometre is much it's very near to our Hotel so we visit this place 2 or 3 time in a day for Indians its haven place for you for vegetarian for South Indian food for any food u must visit this place we try many things of paneer we try dosa ,with cheese chilli we try their lasha prantha, we try their Pakoda ,we try their Tandoori Paneer love their food it's good the best thing I like their lasha prantha with the cheese chilli it's awesome flavour awesome combination and the best thing is that they provide you water First. they not tell you or force you for buying water bottle, I like that they are staff...
We had 3 meals here. Cute Indian restaurant in HCMC and a good place to come to when you crave some Indian food. They serve south indian breakfast from 8am, which was yum. My husband loved their masala tea as well. In one of our meals, we had ordered a paneer biryani which was the best biryani I've had in a year. We ordered biryani again the next day, the taste of which was totally different, so food taste is not entirely consistent. But overall, I thought it was a hidden gem.
Great tasting Indian restaurant in HCMC…. Also it doesn’t close in the afternoon like so many other Indian restaurants….
The place is a heaven for Indians visiting Saigon(Ho Chi Minh City). It's just like feels like I am in India. Complimentary Papad and onion and Lemon just like the ones in India will run u crazy. The food is served on Banana Leaf (real ones). The taste will never make you feel like you ain't in India. The rates are reasonable too. Happy Eating guys!!
Didn't actually plan to go here but the Malaysian Indian guy whom we met at Temple, recommended and brought us here. Frankly, the ambience is amazing but beautiful & colourful decorations, very soothing to eyes. We were told the chef is Malaysian and the owner as well. Menu comprises of all types of Indian and Malaysian food. The taste is exactly same and delicious. Anyone looking for Malaysian food, can drop by for a sumptuous meal. Pricing is a bit high for some of the dishes. Despite that, we had a wonderful meal.
I had no clue before dining here that such a great Indian restaurant existed in this location. Luckily found this restaurant nearby my hotel and tried all the vegetarian food during my 3 days' stay in HCMC. The food is simply great. If you're an Indian and a vegetarian, you'll be elated to dine here. Although even locals visit and enjoy Indian food as I could see them everyday. The prices are very decent and each dish is served in a great quantity. I got to meet the owner also who's a very humble man. He's usually around to ensure all the customers are satisfied with the food and service. It's very difficult to find Indian milk tea in Vietnam but this restaurant will not let you down with its masala tea. I highly recommend this restaurant to Indian food lovers. And yes, they do serve food ...
Quite ambience. Not so crowded if you go before 7 pm. Sometimes it gets full. Except locals, not many in Saigon knows about the place. You will get to meet I diana for sure. Prices are nominal. We paid 100 for Uthappam, 100 for egg Briyani. The quantity is limited. Taste is good also you will spoil your stomach.
The food here is quite good. The location shown on the map is right but a bit tricky to reach via cab. Look for the small road next to "Paradise Saigon Boutique Hotel". Quantity (rice mainly) easily serves 2. We also loved the paneer pepper fry! If you are craving Indian food, do visit!
This place is a bliss for Indians who wants to have a decent meal in a foreign land. If you’re in HCM city, do give it a try
We went here just because I liked some options I've seen in the photo of a menu and I didn't expect much. The moment I saw that the place is packed with people from all corners of India I knew we came to the right place. Portions are enormous. One dish is enough for a grown-up man. The food is amazing. It's like if I had an Indian grandma and she had that one evening in a year to cook for me. It was spicy but not crazy hot. The interior is simple. It's not "fine dining" or anything like that. But it's a place that many expat Indian families choose to go to to enjoy food from home. I think that tells you something
This place deserves more than 5 stars. Very economical and huge portions of food when compared with other Indian restaurants in HCM. Best south Indian food. Tried mutton soup and chicken chukka both were so authentic! The service was very quick and polite
My food was not nice but everyone else's was good. One terrible waiter (two were good). My lamb Rogan josh had two knee caps and one piece if actual meat in it. I had to spoon out 10 dessert spoons of grease, and the flavour was as if it had been cooked in the back of a moped repair shop. The other diner's food looked pretty good though, and the takeaway for our children was tasty.
Authentic Taste like in india… Banana leaf meal is so good.. This restaurant will never disappoints you ! Location is tricky to go.. can find small road diagonal opposite to Petrolimex gas station
I have visited this place and had dinner there upon reading various reviews. Personally If I say location is very nice, the food menu was quite big. But if I say that the starter took time as chana chat but it was not prepared well like it waf not having taste of a chaat. I have to ask them to give me separate lemon and chaat masala..they have not even added adequate onion and Tomato it was a chana and few onion tomato can't say it's a chaat. When I asked for a very thali they denied that it's not available. The main course was better but took long time to get it still I will say it's was tasty. Service people were very fast and enthusiastic. The rates were reasonable.
Waited 20 minutes to have our order taken, even though there were at least 5 employees standing around in the open area next to us. Food was good - not the best I've ever had but better than expected given the location. The atmosphere on the main floor is a little hectic and the decor dated, but it wouldn't have been too noticeable if we weren't left staring at the walls for so long.
Delicious and authentic South Indian food, coming from a real South Indian ! You’ve gotta go for a Thali (veg or non-veg), it’s gives the best combination that lets you try a little bit of everything that South India has to offer. Don’t forget to get a couple servings of the Kerala Porotta. The atmosphere is lively as well, with a little kitty cat running around. Lots of space upstairs as well. Prices are standard for Indian restaurants !
The staff are the best. The food is the next. They serve with love and care and thats makes the food delicious. The menu covers a wide variety of south Indian, north Indian, chinese, Malaysian food. The fish hot pot is a great blend of indian flavors served in Vietnamese style. This place is surely a perfection of indian food treats.
